AZ Gov Withdraws Nike Financial Incentives

Arizona Republican Governor Doug Ducey withdrew financial incentives previously promised to Nike after it kowtowed to “offended” former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and pulled “The Betsy Ross Flag” shoe from store shelves. Ducey tweeted: “Arizona’s economy is doing just fine without Nike. We don’t need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history.” According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Nike will lose about $1 million in planning fees and about $4,000 per full-time employee, who will now no longer be hired. “Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike,” Gov. Ducey posted in a string of tweets on Tuesday morning. “Nike is an iconic American brand and American company.
