Biden has come through on a campaign promise after Trump shuttered the refugee resettlement program, which uses taxpayer dollars to place third-world migrants in first-world countries. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is an example of this program’s great success and the type of diversity that Americans are ordered to celebrate under multiculturalism.
“It is important to take this action today to remove any lingering doubt in the minds of refugees around the world who have suffered so much, and who are anxiously waiting for their new lives to begin,” Biden stated before signing an order placing the refugee cap at 62,500.
He added that Trump’s restrictions on the program “did not reflect America’s values as a nation that welcomes and supports refugees.”
