DOJ’s Nightmare Plan: Indicting Trump Over January 6

The potential news of President Joe Biden’s Justice Department indicting and arresting former President Donald Trump over the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol is deeply concerning for all Americans, regardless of their political beliefs. Such a move could trigger an unprecedented political and electoral crisis that jeopardizes the upcoming presidential election and the very fabric of our republic. In countries like Nicaragua, jailing political rivals is a hallmark of tinpot dictatorships, and we must not allow this to happen in America.

Recently, Trump revealed that he received a target letter from Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is leading the federal criminal investigation of Jan. 6. The four-day ultimatum to report to the grand jury strongly suggests an impending arrest and indictment. This is the second target letter Trump has received, and it’s becoming evident that federal law enforcement is being weaponized and political differences are being criminalized to rig the 2024 election in Biden’s favor.

Taking Trump out of the political equation ahead of the 2024 election on spurious charges related to Jan. 6 would undermine the legitimacy of any future election. It could even create a new group of voters who claim the election has been preemptively stolen. The actions of Biden’s Justice Department, with its two-tiered system of justice, have the potential to swell the ranks of Americans who may not be fervent Trump supporters but are deeply concerned about the abuse of power and injustice.

The repeated use of baseless investigations, like the Russia-collusion hoax and two bogus impeachments, is garnering sympathy for Trump from ordinary Americans who can recognize unfairness and the abuse of power. It’s evident that there are different standards of justice in America, one for the political establishment and another for outsider politicians like Trump who challenge the status quo in Washington.

Biden and Garland may believe they don’t need to be seen as legitimate by half the country after the 2020 election, but their weaponization of federal law enforcement will delegitimize the 2024 election before it even begins. This will pose a significant problem for our nation, and we must ensure that our electoral processes remain fair and impartial for the preservation of our democracy.
