Gas Prices Could Put Democrats in Peril For Midterms

Gas prices are inching higher in some areas as refineries deal with production problems and the already-tight oil supply could get pinched again after expected cuts in production from the oil-rich nations in OPEC+.

Gas prices in the U.S. had fallen for 99 consecutive days before rebounding last week, with the most dramatic increases happening in the West because of maintenance to refineries in Washington state and California.

On Wednesday, the national average for a gallon of gasoline sat at $3.80, according to AAA. Californians are seeing an average price over $6: Nevada’s is $5.50, and Oregon and Washington state are both over $5 a gallon. In the Midwest, drivers are seeing prices over $4 a gallon after a fire at a refinery in Ohio that killed two people. Read more…
