Howard Dean, former Gov. of Vermont and Democrat candidate for president, is considered to be the unofficial spokesman of the uber-left in the Democrat Party.
So when he speaks, his party listens.
And according to Dean, pro-lifers aren’t welcome in his party.
Of course this was already implicit, but now Democrats are coming right out and saying it.
Here’s more from DC Statesman:
Former Democratic Governor of Vermont Howard Dean recently said that pro-lifer’s do not belong in the Democratic tent. MSNBC co-host Joe Scarborough interviewed Dean and asked if there was room in the party for people to be progressive on economic issues, but still be conservative on social issues, such as abortion. Dean replied:
“No. Because the young generation isn’t that way. I think the old left/right is an anachronism.[…] Young people don’t think that way. They are not ideological. They are extremely interested in social justice, so we are never going back to maybe making compromises on abortion, and gay rights is another one.”
Dean is basically saying that if you are not the establishment, blue, progressive they want you to be, they want nothing to do with you. Take a look at the video of the interview for yourself:
