Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) received a “death threat package” containing suspicious white powder, threatening messages, and violent images at his home today. The FBI is investigating the matter.
The death threat package contained an edited image of Paul, who is depicted as bandaged and walking with a crutch, with what appears to be a rifle aimed at his head. ‘I’ll finish what your neighbor started, you motherf*****,’ reads the message found in the package.
Back in 2017, Paul was violently assaulted by his neighbor, Rene Boucher, while doing work in his yard, resulting in five broken ribs. Boucher pleaded guilty to assaulting a member of Congress following the altercation.
“I take these threats immensely seriously. As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family,” wrote the Senator. “This must stop. Just this weekend Richard Marx called for violence against me and now we receive this despicable powder filled letter.” Read more…
