After the tragic shooting by a crazed leftist at the GOP congressional baseball practice, critically wounded Congressman Steve Scalise spent weeks in intensive care, surgery and rehabilitation due to a nearly fatal shot to the hip.
On Thursday, Scalise returned to the House floor for the first time since the shooting and was met with an overwhelming ovation.
All politics aside, Scalise thanked fellow members and doctors for their support and prayers, which were critical through the most trying period of his recovery.
American politics has been called a full-contact sport, but no vitriol, no opposition, or disagreement warrants violence.
We’re thankful for Scalise’s determination and dedication to public service and we welcome his return.
