In a Thursday announcement, USA Today removed 23 articles from breaking news reporter Gabriela Miranda after she was caught fabricating sources. She has since resigned from the outlet after an audit exposed her journalist malpractice.
The audit came after USA Today received an external corrections request.
According to the outlet, “The audit revealed that some individuals quoted were not affiliated with the organizations claimed and appeared to be fabricated.”
“The existence of other individuals quoted could not be independently verified. In addition, some stories included quotes that should have been credited to others,” it added. Read more…
