WATCH: Trump Mocks DeSantis’s Twitter Troubles During Campaign Launch

Former President Donald Trump didn’t miss the opportunity to mock Governor Ron DeSantis as technical difficulties plagued his presidential campaign launch on Twitter. DeSantis’s Twitter Space event with CEO Elon Musk was marred by constant audio interruptions, forcing them to start a new session after several minutes of complications.

Taking to his own platform, Truth Social, Trump shared videos comparing the glitch-ridden Twitter Space to his own campaign announcement at Mar-a-Lago, where he addressed a room full of enthusiastic supporters and media without any technical hiccups.

In one video, Trump humorously highlighted the stark contrast between the two events. The videos were part of a series of posts in which Trump playfully referred to DeSantis as “Rob” and touted the superiority of his own social media platform, the “Red Button.”

Trump wrote, “‘Rob,’ My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!)”

While DeSantis faced Twitter troubles, he had already filed his paperwork with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to officially run for president. He also released an advertisement outlining his vision for leading America’s comeback.

However, two recent polls indicated that Trump still held a substantial lead over DeSantis and other Republican primary contenders. A Quinnipiac University poll showed Trump with 56 percent support, while DeSantis trailed with 25 percent. Similarly, a CNN-commissioned SSRS poll had Trump at 53 percent and DeSantis at 26 percent, with no other candidate reaching double digits.

These numbers demonstrate Trump’s continued popularity within the Republican base and the significant challenge DeSantis faces in gaining momentum against the former president’s strong support. The Twitter glitches may have provided Trump with an opportunity to playfully tease his potential rival, further highlighting his own successful campaign launch.
