Nonprofits Profit: Biden’s Border Crisis Fuels Controversy!

Communities across the United States are grappling with the financial strain of accommodating, supporting, and providing essential services for millions of illegal immigrants released into the country under President Joe Biden’s administration. Meanwhile, left-wing nonprofit organizations tasked with serving migrants are reaping substantial profits.

A recent investigation by the Free Press into three prominent nonprofit organizations contracted by the Biden administration for migrant services revealed staggering revenue increases since 2018, with each CEO earning over $500,000 annually. Global Refuge, for instance, saw its revenue soar from $50 million in 2018 to over $200 million in 2022. CEO Krish O’Mara Vignarajah’s salary climbed from $244,000 to $520,000 during the same period, despite housing fewer migrant children in 2022 at a significantly higher cost.

Endeavors, another nonprofit group, received over $1 billion in 2022, allocating substantial sums to non-essential expenses like music therapy, consulting services, conferences, and lobbying. Similarly, Southwest Key Programs, despite previous controversies involving executive self-dealing, received nearly $800 million in 2022, with a significant portion going to its CEO.

These nonprofit organizations profit from contracts with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Unaccompanied Children Program. Border Patrol transfers unaccompanied children to HHS, which then contracts with these nonprofits to provide housing, education, and other services until sponsors can be found.

Under HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra’s leadership, the Unaccompanied Children Program has faced issues of fraud and mismanagement. Becerra’s approach has drawn criticism, with allegations of pressuring staff to discharge children to sponsors quickly.

The broader concern extends beyond nonprofit profiteering to the Biden administration’s unchecked spending across various federal programs aimed at migrant services. Billions of taxpayer dollars flow to left-leaning nonprofits with minimal oversight, raising questions about accountability and efficiency.

President Biden’s past statements about the country’s capacity to absorb migrants contrast with the financial realities and strain on local communities. Critics argue that spending taxpayer money without sufficient oversight or accountability serves political interests rather than addressing the core challenges of migration and border management.

Calls for Congress to rein in spending and improve oversight mechanisms have grown louder, highlighting the need for a more balanced and responsible approach to addressing the ongoing border crisis.
