Great-Grandma Convicted for Innocent Capitol Stroll! Outrageous

Rebecca Lavrenz, a 71-year-old great-grandmother, faces potential imprisonment due to charges levied against her by the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden’s administration. Convicted on four counts after just three days of jury deliberation, Lavrenz’s alleged crime involved briefly entering the Capitol on January 6, 2021. She maintains that she felt compelled to enter through open doors on the east side of the building, exiting a mere 10 minutes later after speaking briefly to a Capitol Police Officer.

The ordeal began when two FBI agents visited Lavrenz’s home in Colorado on April 19, 2021, with follow-up interviews conducted a week later. Despite Lavrenz’s assertion of being a “praying great-grandmother,” the agents informed her of four misdemeanor charges related to her Capitol visit. These charges include entering a restricted building, disorderly conduct, and engaging in disruptive conduct and demonstration within the Capitol.

Facing the possibility of up to a year in prison and hefty fines exceeding $200,000, Lavrenz expressed disbelief at being treated like a criminal for what she sees as standing up for her country. In an emotional video shared on social media, she voiced her frustration at being persecuted for her beliefs, particularly regarding the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Stewart Parks, another individual convicted on similar charges related to the events of January 6, highlighted the punitive nature of the Biden administration’s response, suggesting it aims to deter certain forms of political protest. Parks recounted his experience, emphasizing the harshness of the punishments meted out for what he perceives as minor offenses.

Despite efforts by some to depict January 6 as a violent insurrection, evidence such as video footage and witness testimonies present a more nuanced picture. Released tapes from the Capitol on that day, previously withheld by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, reveal peaceful demonstrators moving through the building with little resistance from law enforcement, contradicting the prevailing narrative of widespread violence and insurrection.
